Scent Marketing for
Clubs & Bars
It was a long night. The air shouldn’t give it away.
So the one thing your guests smell when they walk in is the night ahead.
At Dunlin Bar in Innsbruck, named BEST BAR AUSTRIA 2026, the scent comes out of the ventilation system. Konstantin Karvounis: “Because when it smells good, you feel at ease, and that encourages people to stay, celebrate and enjoy a cosy evening.”
A scent that welcomes people in. That makes stale smoke, alcohol and kitchen smells disappear. And that makes your venue unmistakable.
You choose the fragrance. We take care of everything else.
AROMEA is already in the air at
Dunlin Bar · Cultbar WATZmann · Liquid Diary · SOL Beachclub · Spelunke Wien · Palais Wertheim · Volksgarten Clubdiskothek · Wiesenalm
We design. We install. We manage. You enjoy!
#1
On-site consultation
We come to you and walk through the venue with you, from the entrance past the bar and dancefloor to the toilets: floor area, ventilation, odours, opening hours. And we bring the fragrances with us.
#2
The right fragrance
From our collection, or as your own Corporate Scent, to suit your interior, drinks and music. Liquid Diary owner Damir Bušić: “What I liked was that the scent marketing was developed together.”
#3
Installation
Invisibly in the ventilation system, or discreetly in the room where the ventilation is too small. A single AROMEA Power scents up to 1,500 m².
#4
Service
With the Comfort First package, we provide the diffuser and take care of your entire fragrance consumption, including seasonal fragrance changes, maintenance and service.
The first impression
In the limbic system, scents link directly to emotions and memories, with no detour. That’s why the diffusers at SOL Beachclub work close to the entrance: “We want the scent to remind our guests of something lovely right from the start, and for them to keep that in the back of their minds as they leave.”
No stage for odours
Smoke, alcohol, kitchen, nights of partying: what do you do with that old, stale smell of smoke? Malodor Control Technology blocks unwanted odours at molecular level. At PURADIES in Leogang, “Blue Wood” neutralises the smell of alcohol at the bar.
A venue people recognise
Managing director Thomas Schörkhuber of Cultbar WATZmann: scent marketing doesn’t just mask unwanted odours, it also gives “a venue a certain recognition factor”.
Entrance & Bar
This is where the evening begins. At Dunlin Bar, “Velvet Wood” with sandalwood, cedarwood and Peru balsam comes out of the ventilation system. Konstantin Karvounis: “Many of our guests also ask how we get such a pleasant aroma of sandalwood, cedarwood and Peru balsam to drift through our bar”.

Gourmet restaurant, cocktail bar and disco in one: at Spelunke on Vienna’s Danube Canal, one thing above all was not supposed to happen. Operations manager Kenny Pajaziti: “We wanted to make sure food smells in particular didn’t hang in the room for so long.” After a lot of testing, the ventilation system now distributes the scent through the guest area and toilets.

Dancefloor & Club
Thumping bass, tobacco smoke, sweat and alcohol: a challenge for any nose. At Cultbar WATZmann, which calls itself Salzburg’s smallest club, AROMEA Pro diffusers scent the ground floor and first floor with “African Amber”. And at Palais Wertheim in Vienna, the scent in the hall was meant to “create a unique selling point”.

At SOL Beachclub on Lake Wörthersee, the air carries “Happy Elixir” with its citrus notes: three AROMEA Nano Pro at the entrance and bar, two AROMEA Flex in the toilets. Head of marketing Marissa Berger: “In short: for us, Happy Elixir smells like a summer holiday.”

Questions bar owners and clubs ask us
Does the fragrance overpower the drinks?
No, not if it’s properly chosen and dosed. Konstantin Karvounis of Dunlin Bar in Innsbruck: “The most important thing for us was that guests would of course notice the scent, but that it would never be too dominant or overpowering.” AROMEA nano diffusers can be set across 50 intensity levels for exactly this reason.
What about smoke and shisha smells?
Malodor Control Technology blocks unwanted odours at molecular level, and the fragrance then takes the lead role. At LIO Vienna, a café, bar and shisha lounge in one, owner Elvir Krluku says: “Nobody is bothered olfactorily and everyone can do what they like.”
Our ventilation is too small. Can it still work?
Yes. At LIO Vienna the ventilation was too small for a diffuser, so a Nano Pro 5 works free-standing in the room: “It’s inconspicuous and discreet, you can hardly see it”. Where it fits, the diffuser disappears entirely into the ventilation system, as it does at Liquid Diary in Innsbruck.
Does it work in large clubs and halls too?
Yes. A single AROMEA Power scents up to 1,500 m², directly via the ventilation system. At Palais Wertheim in Vienna, an AROMEA Power envelops the 500 m² Wertheim-Saal in scent.
Does the fragrance only run when we’re open?
Yes, if you want it to. The diffusers can be programmed with up to 21 time slots. At Dunlin Bar, the scent runs from opening in the afternoon until shortly before closing time.
And the toilets?
They’re part of it. At SOL Beachclub on Lake Wörthersee, two AROMEA Flex work in the toilets, and at Cultbar WATZmann in Salzburg, an AROMEA Flex is mounted in each of the toilets.
Can the fragrance change with the seasons?
Yes. At the Wiesenalm in the Zillertal, invigorating, zesty fragrances are used in summer, while in winter and around Christmas it smells of cinnamon and orange. With the Comfort First package, seasonal fragrance changes are included.
Can we get our own fragrance for our venue?
Yes. Alongside the fragrance collection, there’s the exclusive, tailor-made fragrance composition: your very own Corporate Scent. At Spelunke in Vienna, a recognisable fragrance was meant to contribute to the relaunch, and a lot of testing went into it together with AROMEA.
What does scent marketing cost?
That depends on the diffuser, floor area and fragrance consumption. You can buy the diffuser and fragrance, or choose a package with a monthly flat rate that is calculated individually. That’s why we look at your venue first - afterwards you’ll know exactly what to expect.
A well-functioning, unobtrusive scent concept is very important in a bar. It rounds off the visit to our bar and is an invisible part of the whole.
- Konstantin Karvounis, Dunlin Bar, Innsbruck
The on-site scent consultation
We come to you, walk through your venue with you and bring the fragrances along. Afterwards you’ll know which fragrance suits the bar, dancefloor and terrace, which diffuser goes where and which package suits your business. No obligation.
Diffuser, fragrance, seasonal fragrance changes, maintenance and service: all in one monthly flat rate if you wish.
“AROMEA even came to see me in person, to equip me with the best diffuser and give me the best possible advice.”
- Elvir Krluku, LIO Vienna
