We’re enjoying the late-summer lightness of being one more time. Tourists throng the Getreidegasse, couples in love stroll through the Mirabell Gardens and a few students chill out on the banks of the Salzach. Yes, you’re right, we’re in Salzburg: birthplace of Mozart, filming location of the classic “The Sound of Music” and home to a very special club. Because when the couples and tourists head home, things only really get going at Cultbar WATZmann on the Giselkai! Deep into the night, guests here can sip cocktails, dance to the music or simply chill at the beach bar. That’s the holiday feeling, right in the middle of Mozart’s city! With such an unusual ambience, the right scent is a must. No wonder AROMEA is in on the party. We talked to managing director Thomas Schörkhuber about club life and scent marketing.
Question: “Cultbar WATZmann” is also affectionately known as “Salzburg’s smallest club”. So what makes the bar club-worthy?
Schörkhuber: We call ourselves “Salzburg’s smallest club” because although we’re a bar, people have always loved dancing to our house music. These days the “Watzmann” is also run more like a club. From Wednesday to Friday we have various Salzburg DJs on the decks. Outdoors, guests can enjoy the beach club, while indoors the DJs heat up the dance floor with a matching lighting concept.
Question: What else can guests expect at the “WATZmann”?
Schörkhuber: Outdoors, guests can expect our beach lounge with palm trees and a 100% holiday feel. On top of that, a uniquely wonderful view of the old town, including the fortress. There’s a cocktail happy hour every day. From midnight, the chilled indoor bar turns into a club and everyone can dance to their heart’s content. Our Funny Wednesday is almost legendary too: we celebrate the middle of the week with lots of top offers, which is especially popular with students.

Question: To keep the atmosphere laid-back, you chose our AROMEA nano diffusers. Which models are scenting the rooms?
Schörkhuber: On the ground floor and 1st floor we opted for the AROMEA PRO. In addition, an AROMEA FLEX was installed in each of the toilets. And in our office we set up an AERA, which gives off extra freshness.
Question: So with which fragrance are your guests partying and dancing through the evening?
Schörkhuber: We went for African Amber. It’s exotic and fruity, with a blend of sandalwood and mandarin. Just as versatile as our “Cultbar”!
Question: What does scent marketing mean for “Cultbar WATZmann”?
Schörkhuber: Scent marketing is very important to me, because it doesn’t just mask unwelcome smells, it also makes a venue recognisable, and good scents stay in your memory, or positively in your head, for far longer.
Thank you for talking to us!
