Licence to Scent: Drinks with Style at Liquid Diary

Fresh mountain air, a mountain panorama and cows as far as the eye can see. With so much nature, it’s no wonder Tyrol is one of the most popular destinations in the German-speaking world. In the middle of this mountain idyll lies the provincial capital, Innsbruck. And in the heart of the city you’ll find a cocktail bar in a class of its own. Its name: Liquid Diary. If James Bond were a guest here, he’d forswear his martini. Because the cocktails on offer are world-class mixtures that any secret agent would fall in love with. The bartenders are all masters of their craft, and their creations show that much more is possible than “Caipirinha” and “Sex on the Beach”. The bar is a place of imagination and creativity. Guests are immersed in a world somewhere between the Golden Twenties and timeless chic. The cocktail menu, which is a diary, leaves room for guest entries. The general tenor: “Oh my God, how delicious!” So it would come as no surprise if Agent 007 were perched on a bar stool here, casually sipping a “Someone likes You”, a nice blend of mezcal, vodka, rosé vermouth and geranium.

How can this stylish, imaginative world be enhanced any further? With the right scent marketing, of course. And so our AROMEA Nano Pro was granted its licence to scent. Owner Damir Bušić tells us more.

Question: How did the partnership with AROMEA come about?

Bušić: It was important to me to develop a room fragrance concept that suited our bar. I eventually came across AROMEA at a hospitality trade fair and through a contact. I liked the fact that the scent marketing was developed together.

Question: The AROMEA Nano Pro scents the guest area of the bar. How did you come to that decision?

Bušić: We completely redesigned the interior. The room fragrance concept was meant to round off the ambience. The Nano Pro was installed in the ventilation. That makes it very discreet and unobtrusive, yet it still distributes the fragrance evenly throughout the room.

Question: Which fragrance did you choose?

Bušić: To match the style, we chose “Marsala”. It’s a blend of amber, tonka and vanilla with a note of lily of the valley. It comes across as mysterious, modern and elegant - just like us.

Question: How have guests and staff reacted to the scent?

Bušić: In short: extremely positively. It has certainly had the desired effect.

Question: Has the perception of the scent changed since COVID?

Bušić: If anything, it’s perceived even more positively. Generally speaking, people are glad that Innsbruck’s bars and restaurants have reopened.
