Winter Is Loading: Mountain Scent in the Ski Storage

The next winter is just around the corner, and the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski resort has long been ready for it. With the new comfort ski storage facility, a place was created for the 2025/2026 winter season where the ski day begins before the first run. Comfortable ski lockers with a drying function, spacious areas for getting changed, beauty stations and discovery areas for children make this multifunctional valley station building far more than classic ski storage.

After the first winter season, it’s now possible to see how the concept is going down with guests and what part the individual details play in daily operations. One of those details is the room fragrance concept from AROMEA Airdesign: with the fragrance Hinoki, the ski storage becomes a place that conveys calm and wellbeing from the moment you step inside.

How has the new ski storage facility developed since it opened? What feedback has come from guests? And what can a carefully chosen scent do to make visitors enjoy spending time in a building?

We spoke to Daniel Frizzi about the experience of the first winter season, the special features of the multifunctional building and the use of scent in the ski storage.

Skidepot Ladis has now been in operation for one winter season. What is your first verdict, and has the vision behind the multifunctional valley station building proved itself in daily operations?

Daniel Frizzi: The concept of the multifunctional valley station building has more than proved itself. Our guests find everything they need to start their ski day gathered in one place. Numerous comments from guests have already confirmed this to us.

What makes the new ski storage in Ladis such a special place for guests?

Daniel Frizzi: Just in time for the 2025/2026 winter season, a new, state-of-the-art ski storage facility is opening in Ladis, setting new standards in comfort and service. It offers innovative comfort lockers for up to two people that dry your equipment overnight. Extra-wide corridors with comfortable benches and integrated ski stands make it easier to get changed. Beauty stations with washbasins and hairdryers let you freshen up after a day on the slopes, while children can keep busy at interactive discovery walls. Escalators and lifts lead conveniently to the second level, which offers level access to the valley station and houses the ticket area (including a souvenir shop) and the office of the Fiss-Ladis ski school.

The building is a destination for guests and locals not only in winter but also in summer. How was the concept received last summer, and which areas proved particularly successful?

Daniel Frizzi: The new multifunctional valley station building also offers added value for our guests and for locals during the summer season. The spacious indoor play area will also be open daily during the summer months, offering a perfect alternative for exciting games. A new play area will also be built in front of the new building. The castle playground, made up of two connected knights’ towers, offers plenty of fun and action for our young guests. Next to it, a new bike pump track with two different courses for children and teenagers will be built.

Since the opening, has there been a moment or a comment from guests that made you especially aware of the difference the new ski storage makes to the mountain experience?

Daniel Frizzi: We notice the difference above all in the ratings from our guests. The valley station area at Ladis now ranks among the very best.

As with the Bergbahnen Fiss mountain lifts, Skidepot Ladis uses the AROMEA Airdesign scent concept with the fragrance “Hinoki”. What was decisive for you in choosing scent marketing for the new ski storage too?

Daniel Frizzi: The fresh scent in the ski storage makes for a relaxed, pleasant start to the ski day, right from the early morning. If you walk into a building that smells good, you’re also happy to stay there longer. The play areas and discovery walls in the building benefit from this and are very popular as a result, because our guests like to spend more time in the sweet-smelling ski storage.

What feedback do you get from guests about the scented ambience, and has your impression changed after the first winter season?

Daniel Frizzi: The feedback from our guests is overwhelming. The overall concept of the new valley station infrastructure makes the building something very special, from its furnishings to its pleasant room fragrance ambience.

As you now head into your second winter season, what matters most to you for the further development of the ski storage?

Daniel Frizzi: To stand still is to go backwards. Many factors come together in the further development of all our areas. The results of guest surveys and the feedback from conversations with our guests play just as big a part in that development as our own experience of daily operations.
