No fewer than three fragrances are at work at the Venediger Lodge, giving each of its different areas an atmosphere all of its own. With AROMEA Airdesign, the lodge’s alpine feel-good concept is something you can experience through your sense of smell too.
But the lodge has plenty more to offer. In Neukirchen am Großvenediger, it brings modern alpine design together with the nature of the Hohe Tauern National Park, creating a place where it’s easy to feel you’ve truly arrived. We spoke to Suzana Tulic about the lodge’s special retreats and what AROMEA Airdesign means for the guest experience. One thing is clear from the outset: on the Großvenediger, when it comes to scent, the only way is up.
The Venediger Lodge is more than a break from it all. What makes the lodge so special for you personally?
Suzana Tulic: For us, the Venediger Lodge is a place to arrive, breathe out and feel good. We wanted to create a place where modern architecture, natural materials and the impressive mountain scenery of the Hohe Tauern National Park complement each other perfectly. Whether families, couples or groups of friends, everyone should find their own favourite moment here. It’s exactly this feeling of alpine lightness and warm-hearted hospitality that makes the Venediger Lodge special for us.
What can guests experience during a stay at the Venediger Lodge, and what part does its location in Neukirchen am Großvenediger play in that?
Suzana Tulic: Our location makes a lot of things very straightforward. The Wildkogelbahn cable car is only a few minutes’ walk away and in winter takes our guests straight to the ski area and to the longest floodlit toboggan run in the world. In summer, hiking and biking trails start practically on the doorstep and lead right through the Hohe Tauern National Park.
But the best thing is the combination: out in the mountains by day, then sinking into the warm pool, relaxing in the sauna or rounding off the evening with good food in the Venediger Stub’n.
Your lodge has a family spa and a separate adults-only area. What mattered to you when designing these two areas?
Suzana Tulic: It was important to us that every guest finds the retreat that suits them. In the family spa, families can relax together and spend precious time with one another. The adults-only area, by contrast, is deliberately all about peace and slowing down.
Both areas combine natural materials, warm light and modern alpine design, so that the moment you step inside, you get the feeling: now the break begins.
On the subject of food: what can guests expect in the Venediger Stub’n?
Suzana Tulic: In the Venediger Stub’n, honest Austrian cooking meets regional ingredients and a great love of the craft. We serve classics with a modern touch and attach great importance to quality and cosiness.
Whether it’s a leisurely breakfast, a relaxed dinner or a good glass of wine after a day in the mountains, for us enjoyment is as much a part of a holiday as the nature on the doorstep.
Why did you decide to work with AROMEA Airdesign?
Suzana Tulic: A hotel is experienced with all the senses, not only through design or food but through scents too. Together with AROMEA Airdesign, we found a way of underlining our feel-good atmosphere even more strongly.
A pleasant scent often accompanies our guests quite unconsciously and creates memories that stay. It was precisely this harmonious overall feeling that mattered to us in working together.

Which fragrance do you use, and in which areas of the hotel?
Suzana Tulic: We deliberately use different fragrances that underline the character of each area.
Hinoki welcomes our guests in the lobby and at reception, accompanies housekeeping, provides a pleasant atmosphere in the ski room and subtly rounds off the ambience in the Venediger Stub’n as well.
Soft Veil is used in housekeeping, where it gives a particularly fresh and well-kept feel to the room.
Support Breathe is what we use in the pool and wellness area and in the gym, where its clear, invigorating note is a perfect match for the active yet relaxed atmosphere.
The fragrances are kept deliberately subtle: they are there to complement the experience and underline the alpine feel-good atmosphere of our lodge.
Hand on your host’s heart: is there a personal favourite spot or moment at the Venediger Lodge that you particularly like to share with your guests?
Suzana Tulic: There are actually several favourite spots. The sun deck is definitely one of them. With its open view of the mountains around the Großvenediger, it’s one of the loveliest places to start the day with a cup of coffee or to enjoy the sunset.
Our wellness area is just as special, the place where calm settles in after an active day in the mountains. And for us, the rooms on the top floor are a real highlight: the large windows and the view of the peaks give them a very special atmosphere.
It’s these small moments of arriving, breathing out and enjoying that make the Venediger Lodge what it is for us, and it’s this very feeling that we want to share with our guests.
