A Fun Fact from History.
In 1960, the Swiss “osmologist” Hans Laube teamed up with film producer Mike Todd Jr. Together they developed what was - at the time - a bizarre marketing tool called “Smell-O-Vision”. During individual screenings of the B-movie “Scent of Mystery”, it was meant to pump more than 30 different scents into the cinemas. “Smell-O-Vision” didn’t go down well. A loud hiss could be heard every time a scent was released, and the audience sniffed the scents in the order of the events in the film. And too loudly, unfortunately - a bit as if several dogs were in the auditorium. So “Smell-O-Vision” never made it to market. But an idea was born.
Back to the future.
And that idea reaches technical maturity in the AROMEA AERA: fine scent at the touch of a button. Wherever and whenever. All in a small, compact, hip design. A multitasker for the olfactory experience. Practically Oscar-worthy! 60 years later, the AERA answers all the technical questions that have been asked in scent marketing over the decades: the fragrances are sustainable and hypoallergenic, leave no residue and can be set to different intensity levels. The diffuser needs electricity, but not much. The fragrance capsules are recyclable. The high-end AERA model can even be operated and controlled via an app on your mobile - even when you’re not at home. And Amazon Alexa has already released a skill that can control the AERA in your rooms by voice assistant. Anyone who finds that too technical can light an incense stick or a scented candle. But watch out: fine particles in the air isn’t healthy in the long run.
So scent marketing has arrived in the commercial present - that’s one way of summing it up. But the real cherry on the cake of ambient scenting is surely the AERA. You could almost say that with it and through it, scent marketing has arrived in private households, where it’s used for different purposes with different fragrances. Here and elsewhere. The AERA is one of the most popular products in the Internet of Things (IoT) and is bought dozens of times a day.
Innovative as hell.
Here’s how it works: AROMEA takes a liquid fragrance - which can consist of up to 20 different ingredients - and then converts it into very, very small droplets - that’s AirQ technology. How tiny exactly? A liquid droplet in an aerosol deodorant, for example, is about 50 micrometres wide, that is, about one millionth of a metre. AROMEA takes the same amount - that is, 1 droplet of 50 micrometres - and divides it again into 150,000 droplets. That also makes it possible to atomise all the ingredients (and scents) at the same time. And it’s absolutely safe and harmless for all people and animals in the room. No wonder this technology is patented.

Definitely blowing our own trumpet.
