We admit it: we love food! No wonder, as the senses of taste and smell are closely linked. And a relaxed evening at your favourite restaurant stays in your memory for a long time, just like our scents. What few guests give any thought to when they eat out, however, is the workplace of the culinary artists: the commercial kitchen. Although here, the tide has now clearly turned. Show cooking, open kitchens and open work surfaces put the craft of working with food centre stage. But that takes sophisticated kitchen design, high tech and a spark of creativity. All of which is offered by the kitchen planner Klumaier x Tanner, or KxT for short. Headquartered in Tyrol, the company is the specialist when it comes to technology, design and planning for restaurants and hotels. To make even the first meeting memorable, the team is supported by AROMEA scent marketing. We talked to Nicole Klumaier from the marketing team about KxT, what customers expect and AROMEA.
When it comes to restaurant kitchens, laypeople can’t picture much beyond the fact that they have to be functional. What’s the special concept behind your designs?
Klumaier: What matters to us is being able to offer future-oriented complete solutions for restaurants and hotels. With us, everything is under one roof, from concept, advice and planning to implementation support and the first day of cooking. It’s important to us that we’re already setting the standard for the restaurant industry today. We also owe that to our fantastic team! A love of good design, a fine feel for trends, precise planning, high-quality materials, modern, creative, stylish and confident, the finest technical refinement and a polished design language that stays in the memory: these are all things that always take priority for us. Accordingly, our experts attach great importance to implementation. But we’re not only active in kitchen planning; we also offer services in the areas of bars, buffets, open kitchens, wine presentation, and air conditioning and refrigeration. Our customers often want this in combination with other services too. We’re naturally happy to oblige! A strong awareness of quality, personal responsibility and customer satisfaction: that’s our maxim.
What matters to customers in kitchen planning?
Klumaier: What matters to our customers is a perfect workflow in the kitchen. That takes the right working environment, for seamless processes behind the scenes. High-end products and aesthetics are equally important for creating harmony. Since every kitchen is of course unique in its requirements, we try to reflect that in the design and look too. Quality and hygiene standards are another important point when carrying out projects. We meet them at the highest level. With technical know-how and precision, we try to take all our customers’ wishes into account. KxT is there from the very start as a supporter and problem-solver. That’s very much appreciated.
You’re using an AROMEA Tower and Aera Smart. Which spaces do the diffusers scent?
Klumaier: Both diffusers are active in the entrance area of our headquarters in Schwaz. That way, our visitors experience the fragrances as soon as they walk in.
How do staff and customers respond to the scent?
Klumaier: “Moondance” is the scent wafting around people’s noses here. And it’s going down very well and gets noticed too. When we were at GAST, for instance, the AROMEA Tower supported us on our stand. Lots of interested visitors wanted to know where the lovely scent was coming from. That’s how scent marketing works!
How did the cooperation with AROMEA come about?
Egger: Patrick Tanner discovered AROMEA at one of his favourite menswear outfitters. Many of our top customers are also AROMEA customers. So the decision was easy for us: we had to have this system too! And since smell is one of the strongest senses, one that awakens emotions, it also fits our industry very well: good food awakens lovely feelings in the same way!
