Nosey Parker: First Impressions Count

You have to breathe. Nature has arranged it that way, in some form or other, for pretty much every living thing. Sure, a good wine sometimes needs to breathe too, to develop its fullest aroma. As a human being, you breathe for gas exchange, because it’s essential to life. For that, the lungs have to process about 12,200 litres of air per person per day, depending on height, weight and activity level. So people can go without breathing for maybe a few minutes. Anyone who likes diving knows all about that.

The thing about the senses.

From a purely evolutionary point of view, the visual sense naturally leads by a nose in humans. We take a very close look at things before we give them a curious sniff. With dogs, it’s exactly the other way round: sniff first, ask questions later. But how important the nose is for us too often only becomes clear when you have to do without it. One word: head cold. Nothing smells, nothing tastes, the world suddenly seems dull and empty. Anyone who takes proper care of their scent spaces creates added sensory value, quite invisibly. It starts small with your personal perfume and, with professional Airdesign, can achieve correspondingly big things. Why? In our heads, smells are inseparably linked with memories. Smell something, and you remember. A little life hack on the side: if you wear the same perfume for studying and for the exam, you have a better chance of success. And the same goes for anyone in business who gets their very own Corporate Scent.

Take a deep breath.

Back to the wine: a good glass in good company. A crackling fire, an evening glow, good conversation. Now picture this scene in a busy changing room. The fire can crackle as atmospherically as it likes and the wine can be the very finest: sadly, the pleasure won’t come. Because your nose has had quite enough already. The more different impressions the nose has to process, the sooner it gets overwhelmed. When pushy scent notes barge to the front, there’s simply no room left for pleasure. It’s that simple. Where people are meant to relax and enjoy themselves with all their senses, all the senses have to be considered and catered for accordingly. The hotel industry in particular brings many areas of wellbeing together under one roof: cuisine, relaxation, exercise and privacy. Hot fat from the kitchen, air in the spa that tastes of pool, and the gym with its sharp, sweaty bite of exertion? There is another way, says Aromea: please take a deep breath.

Heaven scent.

To make people really feel at ease in all the sensory aspects of the good (hotel) life, it’s best to take the guest by the nose right there in the lobby: fine woods, soft leather, delicate tobacco and exotic fruits will ideally whet the appetite for more the moment you walk in. A bit like the baker who simply leaves the bakehouse door open and seduces passers-by outside with wonderful smells. But only a bit. Because in a hotel, the smell of freshly baked bread is of course a much better match for the buffet. The way to the heart is through the stomach? Definitely here, because it’s the nose that sparks your curiosity first. They say first impressions count. Especially inconspicuous, but effective all the same, are the olfactory ones through the nose: the direct line to the brain and the key to the loveliest memories. With Aromea, if you wish, so invisible and subtle, right at the threshold of perception, that only the good impression remains. Your very own scent space with an individual scent experience is easy to create: whether as a compact nano diffuser with the patented AirQ system (which is also happy to be hidden away in the existing ventilation system) or as an attractive freestanding aroma tower, Aromea always strikes the right scent note. And so it creates attractive added value for memories you’d rather not forget. Close your eyes and take a deep breath: there’s something lovely in the air here. That’s Aromea for you.

Science has been keeping count.
