Dramatic scenes are unfolding in Ellmau at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser. Jana can have her blindness cured - but the love of her life is suffering from heart trouble. Meanwhile, Lilli wants to run away. Drama, baby! And cut: another episode of the cult TV series “Bergdoktor” (The Mountain Doctor) is in the can. But the action is far from over once the camera stops rolling. Beautiful Ellmau in Tyrol has another ace up its sleeve: close by, Hotel Christoph keeps everyone entertained. Action for the whole family - and not just for Bergdoktor fans. The bonus: guaranteed no drama. Adventure for the little ones, relaxation for the grown-ups. With an imposing view of the Wilder Kaiser, a wellness area, a tennis court, a children’s play area and much more. There’s even a horse and livestock farm in the neighbourhood. But that’s where the problem comes in - although managing director Peter Landlinger knows the solution too…
Question: Tyrol in particular is famous for its good air. So why AROMEA scent marketing?
Landlinger: Tyrol has fantastic air and plenty of nature, of course - that’s great! Thanks to our rural location, we also have a horse and livestock farm in the neighbourhood. Basically that’s wonderful for our younger guests, but unfortunately the ventilation system sucks the smells into the hotel. And a smell of horse in the lobby isn’t what you want. That’s why we turned to AROMEA scent marketing. Together with Peter Wieser from AROMEA, we decided on direct scenting and odour neutralisation using a nano diffuser with patented AirQ technology.
Question: How and where is this nano diffuser used to achieve the best effect?
Landlinger: Since the unwelcome smells come into the hotel through the ventilation, the scenting is done via the ventilation control room. The ventilation’s operating times are linked to the nano diffuser, so AROMEA’s nanos are always in action whenever the ventilation is running. That way we can nip the smells from outside in the bud - this is how we neutralise the air. We also scent the hotel lobby, the hotel bar and the wellness area in a targeted way.

Question: Has the scent had an effect on guest satisfaction? How has that shown itself?
Landlinger: One of the reasons guests come to us is the good Tyrolean mountain air. So if it then smells of horse, that’s a little off-putting. Even if it really is part of the picture (laughs). With AROMEA, we were able to remove these unwelcome smells perfectly - and with a suitable, high-quality fragrance from AROMEA’s design programme, we also enhanced the feel-good atmosphere. A win-win situation for us.
Question: What effect can you actually see from using the nano diffuser - how has the scented atmosphere changed?
Landlinger: The effect is truly incredible. All unwelcome odours are neutralised and the pleasant scent flows throughout large parts of the hotel via the ventilation. You notice it in a positive way as soon as you enter the rooms! We didn’t think it would work so well at first.
Question: Since you started using AROMEA products, the air has improved significantly and there are no more unwelcome odours to be noticed. Why would you recommend AROMEA for hotels in particular?
Landlinger: I can recommend AROMEA scent marketing with a clear conscience. It works flawlessly, it’s almost no effort, and you get help straight away. The effect is there - no ifs or buts. On top of that, it’s a simple way for us to give both our guests and our staff a pleasant scent experience.
